The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has filed a lawsuit against a company that claimed clients could make thousands of dollars in sales on Amazon.com if their use their system.
In the lawsuit against the company, the FTC says Amazing Wealth Systems has nothing to do with Amazon and made money by enrolling people in their system. According to the FTC’s complaint, people who followed the system didn’t earn anywhere close to the advertised income if anything at all. Furthermore, because what the system instructed was against Amazon’s polices, many people received warnings from Amazon.com or had their Amazon seller account suspended.
“Get started selling on Amazon and make $5,000 – $10,000 in the next 30 days… even if you’ve never sold anything online before” is one example of the pitches used by promoters to lure potential victims into the bogus business opportunity.
The FTC also claims Amazing Wealth Systems allegedly failed to comply with the FTC’s Business Opportunity Rule. The Rule requires that a company promoting a business opportunity with specific earning claims must have proof that people can earn that amount of money. In addition, the company must give prospective buyers a disclosure document that includes specific information about the business. If the business opportunity is promoted in Spanish, the disclosure document must also be in Spanish.
