Avoid ‘Do Not Call list’ scammers – contact them yourself to get on the registry

scam-alert-pic-150x150Getting on the “Do Not Call” list is a good way to ward off unwelcome telemarketing calls. Call 888-382-1222 from the phone you wish to register or visit https://www.donotcall.gov/. Registration is free and does not expire. BBB advises consumers to add their home and cell phone numbers to the registry at least once every six months to ensure they won’t be robo-called.

Be careful though. The Registry isn’t going to call you!

BBB has learned that scammers are making phone calls claiming to represent the National Do Not Call Registry. The calls claim to provide an opportunity to sign up for the Registry. The calls are not coming from the Registry or the Federal Trade Commission, and you should not respond to these calls.
